Benzoin
Benzoin is the balm, or resin, of various plants of the genus Styrax. Styrax is found native to Indochina, Indonesia, Southeastern Europe and the Near East. Benzoin is particularly sought after by perfume artists. It offers a very vanilla and smooth facet but also other facets such as caramel, grilled almond, grilled coffee, honey... Thus, it is often used in oriental, gourmet perfumes.
Vanilla is a spice made from the fruit of certain tropical orchids of Mesoamerican origin. The smell of vanilla is a greasy, sweet and spicy scent at the same time… Widely used in oriental perfumes, vanilla mixes very well with other fragrances.
